Talon’s Point of the Day – Nov 23rd, 2015 Dying For More Social Media

None of us will be laying in our death bed, and as we breath our last breaths, lament how we should have spent more time on social media. May we all spend more time with our Savior this morning.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Nov 7th, 2015 Be a proper tool

Just as God’s perfect love cannot be disassociated from his just wrath, our love for the lost must include the sharp edge of truth, cutting through the very decay that blinds the sinner to their disease of sin.

God truly is the surgeon of the heart, but unless we are willing to be the unpleasant sharp blade the patient will die. Transversely, no one ever engaged in precision surgery using a baseball bat. The same God who is the master surgeon is also the artisan who perfectly hones the blades he can use in his miracle surgeries, and he is the very autoclave necessary to make sure pathogens are not introduced. Unless we submit to the grinding of our dullness, and the heat of routine purification, we cannot be useful, and our purpose for being created is wasted.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Sept. 25th 2015 Eye Your Steps

What we allow our eyes to rest on reveals to both God and our enemy what is in our hearts. It will either be things that are holy and used by our loving Father or our enemy to guide our steps toward the will of who we allow to master us. It will either be used to strengthen our walk or to weaken it. We like to talk about watching where we step, but the reality is we step where we’re looking. So, the next time you stumble don’t question where your feet stepped. Instead, question where you were allowing your eyes to rest.

Talon’s Point of the Day – July 25th, 2015 Pleasure And Pain

We are taught by this world from our early youth through the end of our days to avoid pain and seek pleasure.

Christ came and avoiding pleasure he reached out to pain, both of those around him, and ultimately his own.

Dare I do less?

Talon’s Point of the Day 2.0 – May 9th, 2015 A Personal Thank You To Father Paul Lemmen

I have always committed the writings on this site to God’s hands as to who views them. My attitude has always been, write what’s important to myself and should it be something that may impart a piece of wisdom to another, then God will direct whoever may benefit by it to end up here. To that end I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to Father Paul Lemmen for routinely reblogging my posts. May God use us both, A Catholic and and Protestant, brothers in Christ, to touch someone for the Lord as He may see fit,

For His glory alone.

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 9th, 2015 I Fear We Need To Be Persecuted

While the church in America seeks long comfortable lives, and prays for more income, a better lifestyle, and even success for their favorite sports team, the persecuted church prays for the strength to be faithful in the face of torture and death, for a morsel of food for the day, and for the Lord to come quickly. It is even common for the persecuted to pray for persecution to come to America. I used to question their reasons. I’d even state that it was illogical because much of the resources sent to the persecuted church around the world comes from America. But I’ve come to understand that they do not do this because they hate us, or resent our comparative ease. They do so because they love us and want us to know God as beautifully intimate as they do.

It used to trouble me to know that people whom I’ve never met would pray for the persecution of American Christians in general, and of me personally. But the more I observe America’s moral decay the more I find their words are ever closer to my own lips.

Even so come quickly Lord Jesus.

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 4, 2015 It’s Not Relevant To Be Relevant

When you read the following, and hopefully watch the Jim Caviezal interview, please note that I wasn’t looking for the video. I was pausing during the creation of this post sensing I needed to make a change to its wording. As I waited I was actually looking at random ‘tweets’ on twitter and saw this link and saved it for later viewing. After I returned to the construct of this post, and adjusted the wording as I needed, I again paused before posting. During that pause I decided to watch the Caviezal interview. When you watch it with this post in mind I believe you will hear God’s voice speaking to you:

I’ve said it before and, no doubt, will say it again;

When we subjugate God’s immutable demand to walk in His holiness to our mutable perception of a ‘necessity’ to be socially relevant ( a moving and spiraling target) we make our ‘relevance’ unholy, and therefore rejected.

I’m not saying social relevance is itself inappropriate and sinful. Yet the contemporary focus and assertion that social relevance is the Holy Spirit’s means to impact society with the gospel is inconsistent with scripture itself.

We are first, foremost, and I would contest, exclusively, called to seek God’s kingdom and walk in obedience. Where that obedience intersects opportunity we will accomplish God’s purpose for us in society, and we’ll know His approval, whether or not our message is received or rejected. When we seek to tune our message and Christian walk to intentionally be “relevant’ then our walk is not being guided by His Spirit, but instead its being guided by our perception of this world’s expectations and therefore subject to influence by the god of this world.  All too often we make the mistake of judging whether we are doing His will based on visible “results.” This is the open door to this world’s god to play us. Again, like the prophets of old, like John the Baptist, like the Apostles and Christ himself, our call is set aside our will and walk where we would not do so of ourselves and leave the results to eternity, and its God, our God.

3:00 Caviezal begins telling of script and preparation, 8:00 Production begins, 10:00 accidents happen on set, heart condition occurs, 18:00 Experience on the Cross, 21:00 Caviezal’s challenge to each of us “Don’t do a song and dance for non believers”, 23:30 Being a little Pagan, 26:00 You weren’t made to fit in

Sanguine Ink – A Poem By Michelle Prout

I wanted to share a beautiful poem I came across today.  Sadly, humanity as a whole has lost the capacity to see the importance of such words.

Come closer, love, follow me

as I write the truth of my life

my deepest darkest

sanguine ink

dances on parchment

my pen tries to go slowly

but it is always too fast

recording promises kept,

broken, and those, gone

with the flight of angels…

there exists no challenge

which would cause

my promises to you,

……to be broken

why, this is so?

they are written on my heart

& your name shall be ever written on my

soul….
