Spring Is Coming

Life is the seasons of a year. It begins with the birth and rapid growth of Spring. Every creature racing about in discovery of what it means to be alive. Then Summer follows, long and warm. A season which seems meant to last forever, free of any hints of future’s chill. Summer turns to fall, with a sense of change in the air. The growing need for preparation driving us to store for Winter’s dark. Then it comes. Winter strikes with the fury of a great tempest. Cold, darkness, death, Even still, Spring is coming.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Oct 20th, 2016 Sign of Love

If longing to be with someone until it hurts in our heart is a sign we love them then what does it say about us if we call ourselves Christians but do not long to be with our Savior?

Talon’s Point of the Day -Aug 4th, 2016 Your Delilah

Everyone, male or female, rich or poor, young or old, of every color and creed faces a Delilah in their life. It’s often not a person, and if confronted and overcome, will be displaced by a new Delilah. In our youth it may well be a person. As we age it could be anything. For a period of time for me it was twitter and other social media. Anyone, or anything that draws us from our God ordained purpose has become our Delilah. Ask yourself, “Who, or what is my Delilah?” Better yet, ask God.

Talons Point of the Day – July 26th, 2016 Royalty of Rags

You may wonder why God has left you in poverty until the point where you have little left but rags for clothes. But just as rags and old clothes were used to lift Jeremiah from impending doom, your rags will be the very thing God uses to lift you from your poverty and place you in his royal courtyard. Your father in heaven is not ignoring you. He sees the decay of all that is not eternal. He’s using your rags to develop an unshakeable trust in him. So take a good look at yourself my friend, for God has entrusted you with the royalty of rags.

Talon’s Point of the Day -Feb 26th, 2016 Please Don’t Presume Me Innocent

Are we presumed innocent until proven guilty of being real followers of Christ? Is there sufficient evidence to charge us, let alone convict? Please don’t presume me innocent. I confess, I’m guilty!

Talon’s Point – Feb.19th, 2016 Death Clothes

As Christians we have died with Christ (Romans 6:8) and have been buried with him(Romans 6:4). Returning to the sin he has freed us from is like shedding our pure white garments (Ephesians 5:7), digging up a dead man, our old man (Romans 6:6), stripping him of his rot and stench soaked clothes, and putting them on ourselves.

Leave your death clothes where they belong, on that old man.

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. Romans 6:8

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4

..and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:7

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Roman 6:6

Talon’s Point of the Day – Jan 20th, 2016 Shame On Me….Please!

Our modern society celebrates the shameless and their shamelessness but I’m deeply grateful for shame. It drives me back to the feet of my Savior, where all that is holy, all that is pure is found. Where I am washed clean from my wretched filth, and ultimately from the shame that makes me aware of it. Yes, shame on me….please!

Talon’s Point of the Day – Jan 19th, 2016 “Torn Between”

“For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.” – Paul, the Apostle (Philippians 1:23-24)

Day by day I find myself increasingly walking in this knowledge. If for my sake alone then I need no longer be here save for what Christ may wish to teach me for others, for my future is sure and I long to see it, and more importantly, I wish to see him who secured it for me.

Yet others need me here, many of whom don’t even realize their need. So I trod on, torn between this life and the next, often in sorrow but always in hope, trusting my Savior to complete the work in, and through me, that will allow me to take off these dusty warn shoes some day, and wade across the Jordon, where home awaits. Such is the life of those “torn between.”

Talon’s Point of the Day – Jan 16th, 2016 There Is No Lottery For Wisdom

The lottery sells false hopes of getting rich easily from just a dollar, to the earthly and weak minded, where a selective elite (the operators) always benefit and an occasional few “winners” are paraded before the cameras to keep hyping their false hope. I guess it’s not surprising that Government runs it.

There is no lottery for wisdom. It must be sought out diligently, worked for arduously, and often cost you everything, even your very self, yet the reward is eternal and grander than you can imagine.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Jesus (Matthew 6:19-21)

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” – Paul, the Apostle (1st Corinthians 2:8)

“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” – Solomon (Proverbs 4:7)

There’s a place where every would-be treasure hunter can go daily and dig, with the guarantee of not only finding treasure every time, but also not having human thieves lying in wait to take it away. Why? Because thieves have no idea where this place is, and even if you told them they wouldn’t recognize it’s value.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Dec. 17th, 2015 What Would You Take On A Flying Leap?

If we each found ourselves on a doomed flight and someone tossed us a parachute and told us we had time to grab just one small item we could slip in our clothing, where would each of our bibles land? Would we think of it? Would we have even brought it with us on our travels?

Sometimes life brings us hard and sudden choices. Choose wisely what is critically important now and you’ll make the right choice when disaster strikes.
