Talon’s Point of the Day – July 20th, 2015 The Intimate Touch Of God

Do you wonder how close a relationship God wants us to have with him? May I suggest God wants a relationship with us so intimate that we each want to know the touch of His hand more than we want the touch of any person on earth?

Talon’s Point of the Day – June 30th, 2015 God’s There, Just Keep Looking

While I often question details of my faith I don’t question God’s faithfulness (tempted as I may be in my weaknesses). There is certainly much I don’t know, but I know this one thing; With every storm I’ve seen His protective hand though at times it wasn’t until the rain passed and I could look back with dry eyes.

Keep praying and keep looking for God in every situation and eventually you’ll realize He was there all along.

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 18th, 2015 Open Your Ears

Listening Ear

Christ died not just for the Christian, but also for the Atheist, the Jew, the Muslim, the Buddhist, the Hindu, the Satanist, the Agnostic etc.

To reject the gift of salvation will be to bring the same end for the Atheist as for the Agnostic, Satanist etc. Each will stand before God without excuse for the act of turning a deaf ear to the message of reconciliation between sinful man and the Holy and forgiving Creator.

Today is your day of salvation. Open your ears to His voice.

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 13th, 2015 At Sin’s Conclusion

What we are observing in our culture is God stepping back and letting humanity reach the obvious conclusion of it’s depraved mind. With each fist we shake in His face while declaring ourselves modern and wise, we are arrogantly declaring the fullness of our sin to the grand record keeper who is documenting our every word and deed. Every single rebellious act and even our very thoughts of rebellion will be played back for us in minute and excruciating detail very soon.

For the God Follower, the redeemed in Christ, humanity’s spiral into the abyss is heartbreaking to observe, knowing the message we offer of hope is drowned out by the screams of those who so need this hope. With eyes squinted shut and fingers pressed so deep in their ears they nearly bleed, the lost chant as loudly as possible “DON’T JUDGE ME, DON’T JUDGE ME, DON’T JUDGE ME!” to keep from hearing about their depravity and desperate need for healing.

It’s this collective hatred towards the truth of salvation through Christ that God is letting reach it’s fullness, and when He will tolerate no more, this world’s sin’s will be complete and Judgement will begin. Lying and denial will not take place at His judgement seat, only weeping and horror as each man’s deeds are replayed by his accuser, where when asked “how do you plead?” each will have no ability to deny the truth, but will answer in their anguish “guilty” knowing instinctively what awaits.

Yet thankfully, for the God follower, sin’s conclusion already occurred, on a dusty hill, with a blood drenched cross. When we are asked “how do you plead?” our advocate, our Savior, will declare for us “this one is redeemed in My blood.”

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 4, 2015 It’s Not Relevant To Be Relevant

When you read the following, and hopefully watch the Jim Caviezal interview, please note that I wasn’t looking for the video. I was pausing during the creation of this post sensing I needed to make a change to its wording. As I waited I was actually looking at random ‘tweets’ on twitter and saw this link and saved it for later viewing. After I returned to the construct of this post, and adjusted the wording as I needed, I again paused before posting. During that pause I decided to watch the Caviezal interview. When you watch it with this post in mind I believe you will hear God’s voice speaking to you:

I’ve said it before and, no doubt, will say it again;

When we subjugate God’s immutable demand to walk in His holiness to our mutable perception of a ‘necessity’ to be socially relevant ( a moving and spiraling target) we make our ‘relevance’ unholy, and therefore rejected.

I’m not saying social relevance is itself inappropriate and sinful. Yet the contemporary focus and assertion that social relevance is the Holy Spirit’s means to impact society with the gospel is inconsistent with scripture itself.

We are first, foremost, and I would contest, exclusively, called to seek God’s kingdom and walk in obedience. Where that obedience intersects opportunity we will accomplish God’s purpose for us in society, and we’ll know His approval, whether or not our message is received or rejected. When we seek to tune our message and Christian walk to intentionally be “relevant’ then our walk is not being guided by His Spirit, but instead its being guided by our perception of this world’s expectations and therefore subject to influence by the god of this world.  All too often we make the mistake of judging whether we are doing His will based on visible “results.” This is the open door to this world’s god to play us. Again, like the prophets of old, like John the Baptist, like the Apostles and Christ himself, our call is set aside our will and walk where we would not do so of ourselves and leave the results to eternity, and its God, our God.

3:00 Caviezal begins telling of script and preparation, 8:00 Production begins, 10:00 accidents happen on set, heart condition occurs, 18:00 Experience on the Cross, 21:00 Caviezal’s challenge to each of us “Don’t do a song and dance for non believers”, 23:30 Being a little Pagan, 26:00 You weren’t made to fit in

Talon’s Point of the Day – May 3rd, 2015 When Christ Breaks Us

I believe Christ asking Peter if he loved Him 3 times was to help him ultimately heal from denying his Savior 3 times and uproot a seed of rebellion in him, but at the time it was clearly painful to Peter to the point of anguish. When our Lord forces us to confront our failure and sin the act of rooting the seeds of rebellion is a surgery for which there is no anesthesia. The process can often leave us temporarily broken. But it is from here that Christ collects the pieces that are valuable and restores and makes us new creations in him, free of a little less of ourselves each time it occurs.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Sunday, April 19th, 2015 We Must Chose To Stay Worthy

When we exercise weak, even atrophied physical muscles, it hurts but in a certain way the pain feels good for we know the pain will reap physical rewards.

When we exercise weak, even atrophied spiritual muscles , it too will hurt, but in the pain will be the pleasure of knowing we will reap a great spiritual reward.

This walk we call faith demands we exercise our determination to follow He who lead the way carrying his own cross. Now it is our turn. We must daily take up our own cross, and engage the struggle to drag this sometimes seemingly impossibly heavy weight to the place where we will be poured out as a drink offering to the almighty. If we do not. If we drop our cross and walk away, seeking a place of personal comfort, we are no longer following Him, and no longer are worthy of Him.

In ourselves we cannot make ourselves worthy for only His sacrifice makes us worthy. But we must chose to stay worthy. And Christ himself defined how we do so:

“Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” – Christ, Matthew 10:38

Let us again this day determine to take up this Cross. In the end the pain will be worth it.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!

Talon’s Point of the Day – April 16th, 2015 You Don’t Deserve Salvation…THANK GOD!

There is a growing view within the modern church that Jesus died for us because we are worth it. While this may sound somehow logical, after all he did chose to die for us, it is in my humble opinion terribly wrong, and likely born of the “God wants us rich and comfortable” message within the “Church” and the “I deserve whatever I want” cultural disease running rampant through our society.

The truth, as I read his Word, is that Jesus came and died for us specifically because we WEREN’T worthy of it. The God who declared light where it did not exist, and the Son who later walked in the holiness that only God can demand or live up to, desired to save a humanity that rejected the light and continues to despise holiness. Why do so? Not because we were in any way worthy of the murder of God in flesh on our behalf, but because perfect love always seeks to give that which the recipient does not deserve.

After all these years of following Christ I can look in my soul and honestly admit that I simply, and still, do not deserve this gift. THAT is why my Savior is worthy of my worship, and why I look forward to being ETERNALLY grateful.

Talon’s Point of the Day – April 4th, 2015 The Lonely Path

There are a few point I occasionally return to. This is one of them that I sense needs repeated:

The path of seeking to know God, not just believing he exists, can be very lonely. Few care to walk these barren steps and the further we go the more barren they often seem to become. Yet the reward is not only eternal. Those who venture into this wilderness will find a place where perhaps millions await who have also walked this path, and the kinship with each will be closer than any relationship we find here on earth.

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” – Apostle Paul, to the church at Corinth, 1 Corinthians 13:12

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” – Apostle John, 1st John 3:2

“But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” Christ, my Savior, Matthew 7:14

Talon’s Point of the Day – April 2nd, 2015 Can The Believer Become So Cowardly As To Reject Christ?

I agree that one cannot “lose” salvation but if one cannot willfully abdicate then who are the cowards of Revelation 21:8, hmm?

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” – Apostle John by Revelation from Jesus, Revelation 21:8

Remember: Judas was counted among the 12 before turning on Jesus.

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. (Acts 1:25)
