Music Monday : “All My Hope” – Crowder

I know its not Monday but I need to share this TODAY.  We’ve lost track of the simple gospel and the soulful tones our parents and grandparents worshipped to. I hope this touches you deep in your soul as much as it does me.

Talon’s Point of the Day – March 13th, 2017 Worth

Limitless love and worth have been given to each of us by the perfect and compassionate creator of all things. It cannot be taken from us regardless of what others do to us, but it can be discarded by each of us to our eternal loss.

Thanksgiving Prayer – 2016

thanksgiving-pic

As the sun rises on this beautiful day I give you special thanks Lord for all the many blessings you have poured in abundance into my life. Though my body aches with age, everything still works. I pray for those, such as our military veterans, and others, who don’t have all their limbs, for I know they would be grateful to experience my aches.

While my relationships with family are not always perfect, Each family member is truly a gift from you. Many broken families will spend this day with an empty chair at the table, wishing their loved one would, or could, come home, or was alive to be with them. I pray you will comfort them and encourage them that this is not the end of their story, that you have a plan for them even in trial, chaos, or loss.

Though, like most people, I wish I was making more money at work, I have a job where I’m appreciated while millions of people in America alone are pleading with you to help them find work. I pray you will be with them, as you were with me when I was in their shoes. Sustain them as you guide them into the blessings of a new job, and may they be mindful to give you thanks.

You are a wonderful Father, worthy of thanksgiving in famine and in feast. As I set down today to feast I will be careful to remember your blessings, and be thankful, especially for the greatest gift ever given, the gift of your Son, Jesus, the Christ. Amen

Talon’s Point of the Day – Nov. 20th, 2016 Don’t “Give Him Up”

jesus-crucified

To paraphrase the great John R.W.Stot, one of the principle authors of the Lausanne Covenant, from his classic book Cross of the Christ,

Judas gave Jesus up to the Priests (out of greed). The Priests gave Jesus up to Pilate (out of envy). Pilate gave Jesus up to the soldiers to be crucified (out of cowardice), but God, and Jesus himself, gave him up to the Cross out of pure love.

Share him generously, but never give him up.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Oct 20th, 2016 Sign of Love

If longing to be with someone until it hurts in our heart is a sign we love them then what does it say about us if we call ourselves Christians but do not long to be with our Savior?

Talon’s Point of the Day – Father’s Day June 19, 2016

Dear Father in heaven,

Happy Father’s Day, as all days are your days. Thank you for sending your Son so that we could become your sons and daughters through Christ.

“And will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”    2nd Corinthians 6:18

May I crucify my flesh, though not to be risen the third day.

Talon’s Point of the Day -March 10th, 2016 Water or Marshmallows?

God set up boundaries of conduct for our own benefit. We disregard these boundaries, for which his benefits are contingent, to our own peril. This is true as an individual, a group, even a nation.

As a nation, let alone the world as a whole, we have dispelled with God’s boundaries and there is collective peril just outside our doorstep, all the while our house is burning. The only question that remains is “Who will you and I throw our lot in with when the voices call for burning sacrifices in the fires of our own destruction?” Will we offer the ever unwanted living water, or reach for the marshmallows?
