Talon’s Point of the Day – Aug 16th, 2018 “The Temptation To Lust Is The Mission To Pray”

Here’s one that is going to be challenging to the reader. It’s certainly challenging to the author. It’s not my usual 1-3 sentence concise point, though I’ve kept it as short a possible.

When you or I find ourselves drawn toward lusting after something, or even someone, it’s not just that we should be praying to resist this potential idol in our heart, but that act of prayer is what someone else is in desperate need of from us.

Perhaps we’re being drawn to be entertained by things that war against Christ. Perhaps pornography, or simply movies, or music that promote messages that we know disagree with our faith, yet we like the actor, or singer, etc. Not only should we be praying to have these things cleansed from our hearts, we should be praying for those who are facing the battle, or the “artists” themselves, that God would be their strength as they break free, or even those who think that what they are doing is fine, that God will reveal to their heart their need to be freed.

Perhaps its drunkenness we are drawn to. Even if we have broken free but occasionally long for giving up self control. Our prayers for others, whether it is someone we know or don’t know, will further distance us from the gravitational pull of what we know in our heart is a black hole.

Perhaps it is lust for an actual person, even a person we know. Not only do we need to be praying for ourselves, that our hearts would be purified before God, but also that individual, no matter what we think we know about them, is also in desperate need of God working in their life, just as we are. I’m utterly convinced that the greatest way to break sexual attraction to someone is to pray for them EVERY time you have the slightest thought towards them. Just as it is impossible to long hold unforgiveness toward someone whom you pray for whenever you feel anger toward them, it is equally impossible to hold someone up as a sexual idol for long, every time you take that person to God in prayer.

Talon’s Point of the Day – Aug 11th, 2018 “But Joy”

This evening I watched the interview of a broken man. A man who had build his life around a wife and family whom he loved more than anything, only to see it all come crashing down as his wife left him for fleeting pleasure. The carnage in his family, and his heart, was fresh, and profound.

While not going into my own life I will say his story strikes close to home. Trying to put it out of my mind I retired for the evening but sleep deserted me. I found myself grieving for this man I do not know. For the loss his children are, and will suffer, though in many ways they will not even recognize it growing up, yet the carnage will take it’s toll. I found myself pleading to God for him, and them, to find grace, and peace, and love.

Then, as is the case when I’m willing to listen to that still small voice, I knew I should mention it here in this humble sanctuary that is my blog. I don’t who. I don’t know when they will see it, but someone will come across this post that desperately needs to be reminded of the second part of Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”

Your night may have lasted for years (I know such night), but Joy my friend is coming. Hold fast to righteousness despite the price. If you keep your focus on God, you’ll begin to see the early glimmer of light.

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” – Proverbs 4:18

The Contradiction of Trump Support

I have been intending to post my thoughts on why Trump has risen, and will likely remain in power in 2020. This post by Middle Aged Housewife perfectly expresses what I intended to say.

I was also going to note my belief that if the yellow stream media really wanted to defeat Trump they would simply need to stop attacking him. His reaction would likely be to say more outrageous things and ultimately sink himself. Considering the Dem Party alternative that would be offered up, I guess its a blessing the YSM will keep trying to destroy him.

Observations and Opinions of a Middle Aged Housewife

I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a fan of Donald Trump. He says and Tweets cringe worthy things everyday. He steps right into the traps the Leftist media sets for him, then walks back what he said. No, he is not a paragon of virtue, a bastion of integrity or a fountain of wisdom, and the Left feasts on these flaws the way buzzards swarm around road kill. The leftist media pour over every statement, every tweet, every post ready to skewer and slander the President in ways they never would have considered had he been a Liberal Progressive.

Whenever there is interaction between Leftists and Conservatives there is an incredulity in the way the Leftist approaches the conversation. Even if…

Talon’s Point of the Day – August 5th, 2018 “NEVER seek a mate”

If you define yourself as a follower of Christ and you truly wish to make a wise decision regarding marriage, I’m convinced the wisest thing you can do is to NEVER seek out a mate. As one who made that mistake I can assure you from life experience that regardless of the quality of person you may end up with if you seek your own will, they will not be what is best for you.

As difficult as it will be to put your daily trust in God on this matter you will never regret it, regardless of the outcome, even if you find that you will walk this faith with Christ alone.

Instead, seek your God inspired purpose for YOU ALONE. If you are walking in God’s perfect will for you, then if His will is for you to be joined with another, then God will place you with someone who is also walking in His perfect will, and your paths will be drawn to together, for His ultimate glory.
