Beware: New Identity Theft Tactic Targeting Bloggers

Have you, like myself, suddenly been hit with followers from sites that make it clear within their name they are selling sex? My strong advice is that you don’t even go take a look. Definitely don’t post a comment if you do visit as this will give the site your email address but knowing what they are pushing, and knowing they are trying to suck money out of you be all means available, why would you even look?

Furthermore, there has been attacks on conservatives designed to get them to open links to sites that turned out to have child porn. Then, the attacker contacts authorities informing them the conservative is guilty of looking at child porn even though the victim did not know what they were opening. Sometimes this has even been in the form of a misrepresented link in an email.

I personally go as far as asking those whom I know that send me links to confirm what the link is and why they are sending it just to be sure they haven’t had their email taken over by a virus.

So my friends, whether its an email link from some unknown source or a follower on your website please be aware and beware.

I’ve gotten notices that “such and such a person is now following my blog”; however, several of them have no profile or web page, they’re just an e-mail address. I do watch when someone wants to comment. One such person, who is on WP, is unfortunately involved with the occult, so I left their comment in “limbo”. (like with a PC; a stealth address that doesn’t give itself away by ignoring the “ping”)
FYI, the web name is hocuspocus13. I still prefer to refer to w.w.w. as the WildWildWeb.

“a stealth address that doesn’t give itself away by ignoring the “ping” Have to admit I don’t know what this quite means. I should…but I just don’t. You know this stuff much more complexly than I.

Toss in your "two cents" if you care to. Fair warning, you might get change ;-)
